Private Tour Operator in Selong Belanak

Selong Belanak is a wide horseshoe bay about 45 minutes west of Kuta, and it is close to the perfect place to learn to surf. The bottom is sand rather than reef, the bay is sheltered, and the wave is a slow crumbling roller that reforms and carries all the way to the beach. Most people stand up on their first day here. It is also a genuinely good swimming beach on a coast where many bays have currents.

The bay sits in the middle of Lombok's best stretch of coast, which makes it a useful base as well as a day stop. Mawun is 30 minutes east on the way back to Kuta, Tanjung Aan and Bukit Merese about an hour, and the Sasak weaving and pottery villages of the interior are within 45 minutes north.

Timing matters here more than at most beaches. Selong Belanak faces roughly south-west and the onshore wind builds after lunch, which turns a glassy morning into a scrappy afternoon. Morning sessions are materially better, and that shapes how we schedule a day that includes it.

Accommodation around the bay is limited and spread out, so transport is worth arranging rather than improvising.

Tours we run from here

From Selong Belanak we run the South Lombok tour covering Mawun, Tanjung Aan and Bukit Merese for sunset, and private days with a car, driver and English-speaking guide that can combine the beaches with the Sasak villages inland at Sukarara and Banyumulek. Surf lessons on the bay itself are arranged with local instructors who teach here every day. Airport transfers run to and from Praya in about 45 minutes.
