Ulun Danu Beratan
Pura Ulun Danu Beratan sits on the shore of Lake Beratan at around 1,200 m in Bali's central highlands, near Bedugul, and its tiered *meru* towers appearing to float on the water form one of the most reproduced images in Indonesia — including on the 50,000 rupiah note.
The temple was built in 1633 and is dedicated to Dewi Danu, goddess of the lakes and of the water that feeds the subak irrigation system across central Bali.
